Our Graduates Shared Their Experiences as Part of Orientation Week Activities.
Following a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, the event commenced with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Turan Sağer, Rector of Alanya University. Prof. Sağer emphasised that gastronomy holds a particularly important place in Alanya and that within our university, professional practitioners are viewed not only as employees but also as artists.
Our lecturer Prof. Dr. Mehmet Durdu Öner shared his experiences and the attention our university pays to the discipline of gastronomy.
Our Department Chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Mankan, provided information about the functioning of our department, mentioning our students' internship experiences and the Erasmus+, BAP, and TÜBİTAK 2209-A projects at our school, guiding the students.
Then, Dr. Zehra Kaya spoke about her areas of work and mentioned the contributions that TÜBİTAK 2209-A projects will make to our students.

Dr Gülden Kılıç, Assistant Professor in our department, Dr İlkay Elmacı, Lecturer and Head of the Food Quality Control Analysis Programme, Erdi Eren, Lecturer and Deputy Director of the Vocational School, Ayşe Muslu Aykoç, Research Assistant, Cansu İşeri, Gülçin Aydın, and Mustafa Kemal Kök provided information to students about their academic backgrounds and fields of work.
The event continued with video presentations by our graduates Baran Tutkan, Erolcan Beypazarlı, Deniz Ergün, İrem Taşdemir, Şelale Beyza Topan, and Metin Bolat, who were unable to attend for various reasons.
Following the video presentations, our graduates Yaşar İmer, Demo Chef at Crystal Industrial Kitchen Equipment (Export), Yusuf Fırtına, Chef at Heritage by Çimen Hotel, and Emine Sude Uslu, a postgraduate student at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, gave speeches. All three graduates emphasised the importance of the 100% English-language education provided by the Gastronomy Department at Alanya University, highlighting the contribution of their English language skills to their professional and academic experiences.
At the end of the event, our graduate speakers were presented with certificates of appreciation and gifts by our professor, Dr Turan Sağer. Afterwards, muffins and cookies prepared by our lecturers Cansu and Gülçin in the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts kitchens were served to students and graduates.
